Tennessee: The Vols stunned the Tigers last year thanks to a second half LSU collapse. LSU will look for payback to be in the mix for the SEC title, but it won't get it. Oklahoma: Outside of a date with Texas Tech, A&M has a light and breezy schedule up until the Sooners show up. After this, the Aggies play Nebraska and at Texas, and here's where the slide will start. By early November, the OU quarterback situation will be fine. A&M won't have an answer for Adrian Peterson.

Miami (FL): The home team hasn't had much luck in this series over the last two years. In any event, it'll be a shock if this doesn't decide the Coastal Division champion in another memorable game. All the questions about the Hokie offensive backfield should be solved by early November, but it still won't be enough to overcome the Hurricane defense in the Orange Bowl. Auburn: This is what many thought last year's SEC title game should've been. The Tigers beat the Dawgs in Athens 31-30 in one of the year's best games, and it'll come up with another hard fought win. Florida: Get the hype started now for Steve Spurrier's first game back in the Swamp; Urban Meyer had better win it. South Carolina beat the Gators 30-22 for its final win of last season, and it won't have the same luck this time around. Oklahoma: This is the oasis in a middle of back-to-back two game road trips for the Sooners. You can bet there'll be plenty of talk about last year's controversial Red Raider win, and you can bet that OU will be really, really amped up. The Sooner pass rush will disrupt the high-octane Tech attack. Fearless mid-August Prediction: Oklahoma 31 ... Texas Tech 20

Auburn: Always a classic, at least one of the two will be in a position to win the SEC West title. This is Auburn's only road date of note, and it just so happens to come in the final regular season game. The Tigers will make it five straight wins in the heated series with the defense overwhelming the Tide offense. The team that's most effective running the ball will win, and that'll be Auburn.Fearless mid-August Prediction: Auburn 13 ... Alabama 10

Southern Cal: Cal has usually been a thorn in USC's side. This time around, Cal might actually have the better team with a secondary that should all but close down the nation's best receiving corps. USC's linebackers will keep Marshawn Lynch in check while the secondary will force the turnovers at the right time to pull out the hard-fought battle.Fearless mid-August Prediction: USC 28 ... Ohio St.: Former Buckeye head man John Cooper was fired partly because he couldn't beat Michigan. Wolverine head man Lloyd Carr has lost four of his last five battles with the Buckeyes and could be in a little bit of trouble if he can't pull this one off. The Buckeyes should be coming into this on a roll playing Indiana, Minnesota, and at Northwestern before its big battle with Big Blue. Florida St.: The Gators pummeled the Noles last year, but that was a young, banged up FSU team. Both teams should be better this season with Drew Weatherford and the Seminole offense sure to be far, far more effective. Southern Cal: Notre Dame has lost its last two games at USC by a combined score of 85-23. Just imagine the hype if both teams are unbeaten; it might be better than the national championship. By late November, all the kinks should be worked out of the USC offensive backfield, but Notre Dame still won't be much more talented on defense.
